Grapefruit Diet
The Grapefruit Diet is a very unhealthy fad diet. With each meal you eat which is NOT balanced, you include a half a grapefruit.
This diet was built upon the thought that a single fruit like grapefruit has ways that can make you lose weight. While it is a great fruit that should be PART of a healthy diet, it should not be soley based on a diet alone.
This diet is a very low calorie diet. It basically has you eating not much more than 800 calories a day. That caloric level is way too low by which to maintain good health. See videos below.
The typical day on a grapefruit diet would go like this:
For Breakfast
You eat your 1/2 grapefruit with
Choice of any style eggs AND
2 strips bacon
Lunch
Again, 1/2 Grapefruit and
Meat of any amount fixed any way you like it
Salad with any dressing
Dinner
Grapefruit-1/2 again
More meat any style any amount or you may eat fish instead
Vegetables which are green, yellow, or red cooked in butter or any seasoning
Only 1 snack which has to be:
1 glass of tomato juice or
1 glass skim milk
You are not allowed ANY potatoes, onions or celery.
Basic Rules of this plan:
You may eat until full at any meal of the allowed foods only.
Do not eliminate what little foods you may eat. These foods altogether burn your fat.
The grapefruit is what starts the fat burning.
Never snack at all between meals.
No starches or carbohydrates allowed. You can fix your food in all the butter you want to of what food is allowed.
Never eat desserts, and that means any vegetables that are white, any sweet potatoes, breads of any kinds. Instead, you'll have to be satisfied with the permitted foods on this diet plan.
This diet plan is not what any sane doctor or dietitian would recommend. It can only be a very temporary crash diet.
