Part of the problem in our American culture is that we eat many fast foods, fried foods, and many foods that are packaged which can be very high in fats.

Fast foods have become quite common over the years. Everyone enjoys the convenience of grabbing something quick while on the go in today's rat-race of living. These meals which are high in oils, bad fats, calories, and cholesterol, promote bad health habits and weight gain.

Overweight is often measured by what is called BMI, or body mass index. This chart measures height to weight proportion ratio.
