Sonoma Diet

The Sonoma Diet was written in a book by the author Connie Gutterson. She is a registered dietitian who believes like I do, in fulfilling foods on a weight loss plan, and not going hungry all the time.

The Sonoma Diet begins with a starter period that lasts 10 days. This is the strictest phase of the diet, which still makes allowances for some good whole grains and nuts.

Once you have passed the 10 day starter period of this diet plan, just like in Weight Watchers, no food is off-limits. The biggest thing you will need to watch out for is saturated fats.

I've been told that if you love your wine with a meal, this plan is for you.

This diet plan favors foods that are high in nutrient value to you.

The diet is basically structured like this:

Wave 1 is the starter plan. The idea is to get you to stop eating sugar and foods that have been on the highly processed list.

Wave 2 will let you eat what you did in the first phase of the plan, and adds on other foods such as treats that are sugar-free, wine, at least 24 different kinds of fruits, and more vegetables.

Wave 3 Once you have gone through phase 2 and reached your set target weight, then this phase is to maintain that weight. The plan allows for greater treats within reason, but keeping your high fatty foods away from your cupboards.

Physical Actvity?

Gutterson doesn't really get into exercises that much, but I do think that with any weight loss plan it is important to walk at least 30 minutes at a moderate pace, 5 days per week.

Recipes are given in Gutterson's book that are tasty and enjoyable on this plan.
